Betting and Investment are considered parallels by many. Much like share markets, mutual funds, and other risk-involving financial trades, betting too, is a typical form of investment. However, some may disagree owing to people perceiving betting to be a taboo subject. Is it really an investment or a way to lose your money? Let’s check it out:

In my opinion, it's not an investment.

A study shows even the most successful bettor can only win 55% of the reward. This combined with a couple of wins cannot be overall considered an investment. Even in the case of tenure, you cannot bet on something uncertain versus investing in different stocks and bonds. Hence, I feel investment and betting might sound similar but are entirely different from one another.

Oh yes! Betting is a short-term investment for sure.

As a bettor, your job is to invest in players/ teams that perform well in different situations and conditions. The rewards would be based on your predictional analysis and accuracy. This is similar to investing in different stocks and bonds of different types.

It surely sounds like an investment, but the rewards are uncertain!

As much as betting sounds like a short-term investment, the rewards are uncertain because of different outcomes that have nothing to do with the market. Furthermore, there has been a serious question on regulatory formalities.
