On March 14, Story Protocol, a California-based programmable intellectual property protocol, announced its first ecosystem partner: decentralized AI execution layer Ritual. By using Story Protocol and Ritual, developers can register their AI models as IP and track the generated outputs as derivatives.
One of the biggest challenges faced by generative AI today is "training models that respect creator rights." To drive sustainable generative AI innovation, there is a need for a human and machine-readable IP registry that allows creators to easily set usage terms for their content, making intellectual property programmable. Through programmable IP, creators and developers can set up on-chain property rights for others to use, synthesize, and monetize their IP automatically, turning code into an extension of creator property rights. Story Protocol is actively building for developers to unlock the full potential of their AI models with attribution and compensation.
Ritual's infrastructure allows developers to build, host, and deploy AI models. Through this collaboration, developers can use Ritual's infrastructure to register AI models as intellectual property on Story Protocol, scaling the licensing of their intellectual property, unlocking new liquidity pools, and enjoying new revenue models. Protecting intellectual property through on-chain execution makes it easy to track authentication and source, benefiting from transparent security.
Through this collaboration, Story Protocol and Ritual are building powerful tools around proof of inference, which uses cryptographic primitives to prove that outputs like text, images, and voice are generated by specific models. This will provide developers with stronger security, ensuring source and traceability.

Story Protocol and Ritual are jointly building the first use case of their collaboration with MyShell. MyShell is a decentralized generative AI creator platform with over 1 million users and 50,000 creators. MyShell's AI models will run on Ritual's infrastructure and can be registered as IP assets on Story Protocol. User-generated outputs like text, images, and voice can also be registered as derivatives associated with the models. Through the collaboration with MyShell, Story Protocol allows creators to control the AI use cases they create, with attribution, authorization for remixing, and revenue sharing all implemented on-chain.
