The Spanish Segunda Division comprises 22 teams and follows a double round-robin format, where each team plays against others twice, once at home and once away. Points are awarded as follows: 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, and 0 points for a loss. Final rankings are based on total points, with ties being broken by head-to-head records and then by goal difference if necessary. The top two teams in the league are promoted directly to the Primera Division, while the teams ranked third to sixth participate in promotion playoffs. The final promotion spot is determined through home-and-away playoffs. The bottom four teams in the Segunda Division are relegated, while four teams from the Segunda B are promoted. However, no club can have two teams competing in the same tier of the league system. |
