February 20th News: Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant recently gave an interview during the All-Star period.
When asked why he's not seen as a good leader by the media, Durant said, "My charisma isn't as good as my peers, and I don't have the personality traits suited for television. Also, many of the stories we discuss aren't told in the media, and at the same time, you have to sell what you're doing, and I don't sell it enough. I don't feel like I need to do that, I don't feel like I want people to call me a leader. But I also don't want people to say I'm not a leader because they don't see what's happening behind the scenes, and they don't hear about my intentions or the relationships I've built with my teammates and support staff."
"But when guys like that say those things, I just attribute it to them not being aware. To push the narrative for myself, or to expose the truth of how great of a leader I am, I don't think that's necessary. I just attribute it to those guys not being aware of who I am." |
