With Galeno's winning goal just before the final whistle, Portuguese Primeira Liga team Porto defeated English Premier League side Arsenal 1-0 at home in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League round of 16 on February 21st. In the 21st minute, Galeno's shot hit the goal post and then missed again, wasting a good opportunity to score. Arsenal's threatening attacks in the first half mostly came from corner kicks, but Saliba and Havertz's headers missed the goal. The first half ended in a 0-0 draw. In the second half, Arsenal dominated possession but struggled to score. In stoppage time, Galeno, from outside the penalty area, struck a curling shot, completing the "decisive goal".
The second leg between the two teams will be held at Arsenal's home ground on March 12th.
