Aakash Chopra, the former India opener, said that Shreyas Iyer’s back stiffness was not the only reason for his exclusion from the Indian squad for the last three Tests of the series. He said that Shreyas Iyer had failed to impress with the bat in the last four Tests he played and his approach in the second Test was not suitable for Test cricket. He said this in a video on his YouTube channel. He also said that Shreyas Iyer could have returned to the squad for the last two Tests but the selectors did not choose him because of his poor form in this series where he scored 104 runs at an average of 26.00 in four innings. He compared him with Shubman Gill who played a brilliant innings in the second Test against England in the second innings.
