As long-time rivals, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi often spark heated debates among their fans. Typically, due to national ties, most Portuguese support their compatriot Ronaldo, while Argentinians back Messi. However, there's one young player who bucks this trend: Argentine forward Alejandro Garnacho. Despite his nationality, Garnacho idolizes Ronaldo, emulating his celebrations and drawing warnings from Argentine veterans like Di María.
This young Argentine prospect currently plays for Manchester United as a forward. In recent times, Manchester United's performance has improved, mainly due to a resurgence in their attacking line, of which Garnacho is a part. After scoring two goals against West Ham, Garnacho has already scored seven goals this season, and Manchester United's attack has scored 11 goals in their recent three matches, almost twice as many as the total of six goals scored in their previous eight matches in December.
Garnacho's celebration after scoring against West Ham caught the attention of many. After scoring, Garnacho ran straight to the advertising board, crossed his arms, and sat down, gazing at the field. This celebration was a homage to one of Ronaldo's classic gestures. In fact, this wasn't the first time Gana had done this; he has repeatedly mimicked Ronaldo's celebrations after scoring in matches, and he openly admits to being a loyal fan of Ronaldo in interviews.
However, due to Garnacho's Argentine nationality and his inclusion in the national team, his celebrations have stirred controversy. For instance, Argentine veteran Di María has warned Gana to stop imitating Ronaldo and to learn more from Messi instead. However, the young Garnacho remains defiant, ignoring Di María's warnings and continuing to mimic Ronaldo's gestures. Each time he returns to the national team, his teammates use Di María's words to tease him, but Garnacho simply smiles shyly and doesn't respond, indicating his firm support for Ronaldo. |
