February 3rd News: In yesterday's NBA regular season, the Rockets defeated the Raptors 135-106 at home. After the game, Rockets head coach Ami Wuduka talked about the team's rookies Cam Whitmore and Amen Thompson, both of whom set career-high scoring records in this game.
Wuduka said, "For me, it all comes down to the defensive end. We lock down the opponent, force turnovers, and play with quick transitions. Our young players coming off the bench helped with that. Whitmore and Amen Thompson brought energy. Clearly, they gave us a huge boost. They both scored in this game, but they also defended multiple players and pushed our tempo, which was the difference in this game."
Whitmore came off the bench for 21 minutes and 23 seconds, shooting 10 for 17 from the field, 3 for 7 from three-point range, and 2 for 2 from the free-throw line, scoring a career-high 25 points with 6 rebounds, 1 assist, and 3 steals, with a plus-minus of +22.
Thompson played off the bench for 24 minutes, shooting 9 for 11 from the field, 0 for 1 from three-point range, and 2 for 2 from the free-throw line, scoring 19 points with 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals, and 1 block. The 19 points were a career high (previously 15 points), with a team-high plus-minus of +27. |
