Michael Vaughan, the former England captain and now a pundit, has advised Joe Root to abandon the Bazball approach and stick to his traditional Test cricket skills. Vaughan believes that Root has been struggling as a Bazballer and that England need him to return to his old style if they want to win. Root has been out of form in the first two Tests against India, despite having a superb record against them. Vaughan wrote in his column for 'The Telegraph that Root's forte is playing textbook Test cricket and that Bazball is hampering his true potential. He said that he has no problem with some batters playing Bazball from the word go, but he thinks that Root should not follow that style as he has scored more than 10,000 Test runs as Root and not as a Bazballer. Vaughan noticed that something was wrong when he saw Root playing a reverse sweep to start his innings, which is not his natural game. The ex-England star has urged Root to be the stabilizing factor in the team and that only then England can be victorious. He wants the explosive batters to play Bazball while Root remains the Rock.
