Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi, who is the acting Chief Minister of Punjab province, became the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Tuesday. He was elected by the Board of Governors of the PCB without any opposition. His term will last for three years from Tuesday. The PCB has not had a permanent chairman since December 2022, when Ramiz Raja, a former national captain and the chosen candidate of the then Prime Minister Imran Khan, was sacked by a late-night government order. Since then, Najam Sethi and Zaka Ashraf have taken over for different durations in temporary roles. Ashraf was the previous chief, who resigned on January 19. Naqvi, who is 45 years old, is well-educated and learned. He is a media tycoon who had a training session at CNN in the US. After working for the American news channel, he now owns his channel called 24 News in Pakistan.
