Why did Shoaib Bashir choose number 67 over number 13 for his England debut?

Shoaib Bashir’s jersey number 67 raised a lot of eyebrows in the media and among the fans. He revealed to talkSPORT after his stunning first day that he actually wanted No. 13 on his shirt. But he had to go for No. 67, a clever pick by the debutant. He said:

“13 is my lucky number and I wanted that number. But the Lions didn’t let me have it. So I chose 67 [because] six plus seven is 13,” Bashir explained his jersey number.  

Shoaib Bashir, a new spin bowler, played his first Test for England against India at the Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. He bowled very well and won everyone’s praise.
