On January 25th, the Bank of England and the Treasury issued a response regarding the "digital pound," stating that no decision has been made on whether to launch a digital pound, but research and design work on central bank digital currency (CBDC) will continue. Furthermore, the response confirmed that if a CBDC targeting retail users is introduced, both the Bank of England and the UK Treasury will be unable to access users' personal data.
