On January 25th, the cross-chain interoperability protocol Socket announced a customer compensation plan in response to a hacking incident, providing 100% compensation to all affected users. It was reported that Socket's developed bridge aggregator, Bungee, suffered a hacker attack last week, resulting in a loss of approximately 3.3 million USD. According to Socket's analysis, the incident impacted a total of 232 users involving 5 types of assets. Earlier this week, Socket successfully recovered 1032 ETH, valued at around 2.2 million USD. In order to fully compensate for user losses, Socket will also contribute 1.1 million USD from its own funds for compensation. |
