Nifty Island is a new Web3 game that aims to bring practical functionality to NFTs by allowing NFT holders to port their collections into the metaverse. Zunk, co-founder of Nifty Island, expressed on X after the game's release, "Just as you express yourself by wearing your favorite shirt in the real world or bringing your lucky gloves to play baseball with friends, I think the same applies to games. We are at the forefront of a paradigm shift that will change the way we game."
Nifty Island's Web3 open-world game was launched shortly after Warner Bros. Exploration Company's support in creating a metaverse similar to "Ready Player One." The metaverse was once a popular concept in Crypto gaming but has somewhat fallen out of favor lately.
An interesting data point: Since early January, the baseline price of the NFTs for chubby penguins has nearly doubled, reaching a historical high of around $47,000 per NFT.
Other notable events include the release of the heist movie "Lift," starring Kevin Hart, on Netflix. The storyline revolves around a high-value NFT seller.
Additionally, Animoca Brands collaborated with Chess.com and chess world champion Magnus Carlsen to launch a chess strategy game called "Anichess." |
