Nassim Taleb recently expressed in an interview with CNBC's "Squawk Box" that currently, anyone under 40 years old does not understand how the economy operates:
"I think the 'Disneyland' of the last 15 years, 14 and a half years of essentially the [Federal Reserve's] monetary policy having no interest rates, basically destroyed the structure of the economy. Think about the days without interest rates. So, anybody 40 years old [...] has no market experience, is 'zero.' They may not know the value of money over time."
Nassim Taleb argued in the interview that the Federal Reserve has lowered interest rates too much, and the general public will eventually have to bear the consequences. He said:
"With such a long period of zero interest rate policy, you're hurting the economy, you're creating bubbles, creating tumors like Bitcoin." |
