The Securities and Exchange Commission of Thailand has stated that it does not have a policy allowing securities firms in the country to establish onshore Bitcoin spot ETFs. It noted that such financial products established overseas are not within its regulatory scope. The commission mentioned that the development of onshore Bitcoin spot ETFs in the United States is still in its early stages, emphasizing the importance of operators in protecting investors. In a statement on Tuesday, the commission indicated that asset management companies' mutual funds are not allowed to invest directly in onshore Bitcoin spot ETFs. Prior to this statement, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission had approved the establishment of onshore Bitcoin spot ETFs by mutual funds. Subsequently, some Thai brokerage firms issued messages advising clients to consider direct investments in such products. |
