In the traditional mindset of the sports world, when a team performs poorly, the coach is usually the first person to be blamed. In sports, changing the coach represents a new opportunity. Anyway, the team's current situation is already bad enough, so they are looking for nothing more than a fresh start. Such an opportunity, not only hoped for by the fans but also desired by most players, who believe that a change in coaching can improve the team's losing atmosphere and playing style. ""Possibility"" is what every team deciding to change its coach hopes to achieve.
I used to be a supporter of this theory. I watched Chelsea next door, and every time they decisively changed the coach, they won two UEFA Champions League titles after changing the coach. As a club as financially strong as Manchester United, I naturally thought that Manchester United should follow Chelsea's path. But I forgot that Chelsea's core has always been owner Roman Abramovich, and as long as he is there, Chelsea's management will not be chaotic.
However, when we look at Manchester United, they have the money, but the Glazer family, the owners of Manchester United, are arguably one of the worst owners in the Premier League. So, they changed one coach after another, some of them being well-known, but with a chaotic management structure and an unstructured transfer plan, it's challenging to succeed, even if a miracle-working coach arrives. Not everyone can be as formidable as Sir Alex Ferguson, who managed to keep the team competitive under Manchester United's poor management. Under various unfavorable circumstances, Ten Hag has already done everything he can.
Facing BIG6 teams, in 5 matches, they have won 3, drawn 1, and lost 1. Except for the humiliating defeat to Manchester City, this also includes a 3-1 victory over an in-form Arsenal. What more can Manchester United fans expect from Ten Hag? So now, I have changed my mind. Ten Hag has proven his ability through tough battles. I sincerely hope that regardless of the final result this season, Manchester United should trust him, just like Arsenal trusts Arteta and gives him the time to build his system. In today's football era, success isn't achieved solely by spending money. You need time to build a comprehensive tactical system, buy the right players for that system, and this process is continuous and cannot be completed overnight. I believe Ten Hag is the right person for this job.
In this era where everyone is spending money, simply throwing money around won't elevate you to the next level. Choosing the right head coach and fully supporting them in building a system is what every top club should consider. In this football era tainted by money, let's use trust to bring a color named "trust" to the entire era. And trust is what can bloom the flower of hope.
