Tesla CEO Elon Musk tweeted in 2018, teasing that Tesla would build a "Tesla Supercharger station" in Los Angeles, which would feature an old-style theater, an ice rink, and a rock-themed restaurant. After several years, in May 2022, Tesla officially submitted the construction plans to the Los Angeles Department of City Planning (ZF).
According to recent aerial footage revealed by FOXLA, the Tesla Hollywood Supercharger station is under construction and nearing completion. The station is located near Santa Monica Boulevard in Hollywood, where the Shakey's Pizza Parlor and Restaurant, the former establishment, has disappeared, making way for a circular building.
As per the construction plan, the Supercharger station will include a restaurant, an outdoor drive-in movie theater, and 34 charging stalls, with 29 of them being Supercharger stalls. The charging stations will be open to all electric vehicle brands, not just Tesla, and there are rumors that waitstaff will deliver food using a pulley system.
This will be the first "entertainment center" in the U.S. combining a restaurant, an outdoor drive-in movie theater, and charging stations, and it is expected to begin operations by the end of this year.
Acceptance of Dogecoin payments will be introduced. It's worth noting that Musk announced in February 2022 that the Supercharger station would accept Dogecoin payments. In a tweet, he stated, "Supercharger station in Hollywood is planned to get a retro-future diner/drive-in movie experience, and you will be able to use Dogecoin there." A Dogecoin community member tweeted on the 13th that the Tesla Supercharger station, along with its attached restaurant and drive-in theater, will accept Dogecoin. This announcement sparked excitement within the Dogecoin community, with users expressing optimism about the cryptocurrency's future.
Musk revealed in a recent XSpace event that he still holds a significant amount of Dogecoin and has not sold any, emphasizing that Dogecoin is his favorite cryptocurrency. While he did not mention whether he holds other cryptocurrencies, he noted that SpaceX, his company, holds Bitcoin. Additionally, Musk mentioned that he is considering using Bitcoin on Mars but acknowledged there are challenges to overcome. He expressed openness to using Bitcoin on the X platform but indicated it's not a top priority. |
