India has blocked access to global cryptocurrency exchanges, including Binance, KuCoin, and OKX. India has implemented IP blocking measures, preventing Indians from accessing the URLs of foreign cryptocurrency platforms. However, according to CryptoSlate's investigation, as of the time of this writing, it is still possible to access the websites of Binance, OKX, and KuCoin through Google Chrome without the need for a Virtual Private Network (VPN). Binance's website is also accessible through Safari and Mozilla Firefox browsers without any VPN, but the websites of OKX and KuCoin cannot be accessed. On January 10th, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology requested Apple to restrict access to foreign exchange applications for Indians. As of the writing of this article, both the iOS and Android app stores have restricted Indians from accessing foreign cryptocurrency trading applications. An official from the government informed the Economic Times that the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) of the Finance Ministry warned that some international exchanges may be involved in money laundering, leading to this measure. |
