This marks the second consecutive season that the Nets have been eliminated 4-0, and some attribute their collapse to the absence of a superstar on the team. Despite having a plethora of first-round draft picks, achieving a breakthrough without a superstar leader is deemed extremely difficult for the Nets.

The Nets' collapse can also be attributed to the fact that they traded away two superstars, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant, before the trade deadline. Therefore, it is quite normal for the Nets to falter without the presence of a superstar. Recently, there have been rumors that the Nets were trying to acquire Kawhi Leonard to bolster their team's strength, but this decision faced opposition from the management. It was during this time that Kevin Durant mentioned his ongoing contact with the Nets owner, Joe Tsai.

In an interview, Durant expressed his gratitude for the Nets' care during his injury and revealed that he has had some recent communication with Joe Tsai. When asked about his future and the possibility of returning to the Nets, Durant stated that everything is still uncertain, and he didn't provide a direct response. When further pressed about whether he would have the same status if he returned to the Nets, Durant continued to evade the question, saying that everything needs to be discussed in the long run. He did, however, add that Joe Tsai warmly welcomes both Durant and Irving to return to the Nets.

Currently, it seems that the Nets have ambitions to make another championship push in the short term, but such aspirations are easier said than done. In the fiercely competitive landscape of the NBA, even the convergence of superstars doesn't guarantee a championship, especially for a Nets team that currently lacks many star players. Perhaps patient rebuilding, rather than blindly pursuing the addition of superstars, is what the Nets should focus on.
