The two nations squared off in September 1844 at Manhattan, New York's St. George's Cricket Club in the first-ever international cricket match. Cricket was officially declared the official sport of Canada in 1867 by John A. Macdonald, the country's first prime minister, after the Auty Cup match created such a lasting impression. The T20 World Cup, which pits 20 teams against one another for the coveted trophy, will mark the debuts of both the US and Canada. Canada has four appearances at the 50-over World Cup, with their most recent participation occurring in 2007.
