Why was Mohammed Shami conferred with the Arjuna Award in Cricket?

Following his incredible performances in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023, where he emerged as the leading wicket-taker with 24 scalps in just seven matches, Shami's name was recommended by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). In the process, he broke a number of records, including becoming the first bowler from India to take four wickets in a row. Due to an ankle injury, Shami did not play in the starting lineup for the World Cup's first four games.
