I'm often asked whether I will return to the cryptocurrency circle or regularly share my thoughts on this topic. My answer is a resounding "no." Adobe product manager Jackson Palmer and IBM engineer Billy Markus, dissatisfied with the frenzy of ICO projects at the time, decided to create Dogecoin to satirize these chaotic situations. They jokingly said on Twitter, "Come invest in my Dogecoin! It's the next one to skyrocket." Because of this, Dogecoin later became known as a "joke coin," "air coin," and "meme coin."
Unexpectedly, their casual initiative inadvertently made Dogecoin a highly sought-after cryptocurrency. Boosted by endorsements from celebrities like Tesla CEO Elon Musk, Dogecoin experienced a significant surge this year, reaching a new high of $0.73 and currently ranking among the top 10 cryptocurrencies by market capitalization.
Jackson Palmer also criticized the marketing tactics of the cryptocurrency industry. In another post, he wrote:
"The cryptocurrency industry leverages dark business networks, bribes influencers, and pays off media to perpetuate a 'get rich quick' brainwashing mechanism similar to a cult. The sole purpose is to exploit those who are financially struggling and naive." |
