Blackjack techniques are simple and easy to pick up, making it one of the most popular gambling games. Blackjack is a mathematically intensive game that has attracted the interest of many mathematicians. Skilled players have even swept through casinos using card counting techniques, although this vulnerability was quickly addressed by casinos. Nevertheless, today, we can still improve our chances in the game of Blackjack through card counting.
In a game of Blackjack, the used cards are discarded into a discard pile at the end of each round. The deck is reshuffled only when half or three-quarters of the deck has been used. Understanding this process allows us to enhance our chances of winning through card counting.
Here is a commonly used and quick card counting method:
1. Assign values to certain cards in a deck: 2-6 = 1, 7-9 = 0, 10-Ace = -1.
2. Sum the values of all used cards to get the "running count." For example, if the used cards in a round are 2, 9, 10, Jack, King, the running count would be -3.
The higher the running count, the more low-value cards have been discarded, increasing the probability of higher-value cards appearing.
With this knowledge, we can control our bets. If the running count is high, we can increase our bets, as the chances of winning are significantly higher. Conversely, when the running count is low, we can stop betting to avoid losses. This is a simple yet practical card counting method. Mastering card counting can make us more adept at Blackjack, increasing our chances of winning and making profits. |
