In an unprecedented 30-0 Pacific Cup final victory in Hamilton, New Zealand taught rugby league history to Australia and inflicted their worst-ever defeat on them. Beyond the 24-point thumpings by the Kiwis in 1952 and 2005, it was the largest defeat margin in Australia's history in Test matches. The Kiwis were better in every area of the game from the beginning to the end, from fullback to the bench, against a Kangaroos team that seemed uninterested in playing defence and provided little in the way of offence.
