The Swiss city of Lugano announced today that it will accept Bitcoin (BTC) and Tether (USDT) for tax payments, marking a bold move to promote the adoption of cryptocurrencies. As of today, citizens and businesses in Lugano can use both digital currencies to pay any municipal invoices, including property taxes and income taxes.
This new payment method is introduced in collaboration with Swiss Bitcoin, a Swiss cryptocurrency financial services company, aiming to develop a simplified solution for cryptocurrency transactions.
The integration of cryptocurrencies into Lugano's financial infrastructure is part of the "B Plan" initiative involving Lugano and Tether. The plan seeks to transition the city's financial infrastructure to blockchain technology based on Bitcoin. The implementation of the B Plan aims to enable cryptocurrency payments for everyday transactions, such as taxes.
Lugano is one of the earliest cities globally to adopt Bitcoin and Tether as payment options for all municipal fees and services. This move demonstrates Lugano's commitment to embracing cryptocurrencies and making them a convenient part of daily life. The city of Lugano now accepts payments for taxes and other municipal services using Bitcoin (BTC) and Tether (USDT). |
