Following the publication of a damning report that exposed racism, sexism, classism, and elitism in the game, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) announced on Monday that it had established an independent cricket regulator. In its June publication, the Independent Commission for Equity in Cricket (ICEC) exposed "widespread" discrimination in the sport and offered 44 recommendations. In 2021, the ICEC was founded as a result of a racism scandal centred on the Yorkshire County Cricket Club's treatment of bowler Azeem Rafiq, who was born in Pakistan.
