In the interview, Charlie Lee mentioned that Litecoin should closely collaborate with Bitcoin, and both should assist each other for different purposes. However, what Litecoin lacks is the initial anonymity that Bitcoin had, created by an anonymous individual.
Charlie Lee stated, ""Litecoin is more centralized because of my presence, and therefore, it has a more centralized development team. Litecoin has evolved due to my perspective, and people follow my lead because I am the creator."" When asked if it's possible for him to eventually step away from Litecoin, Charlie Lee responded:
To make a cryptocurrency a globally decentralized currency, there cannot be a leader controlling things from behind. To make Litecoin more decentralized, I think ultimately I will have to let go.
At the same time, Charlie Lee mentioned that selling all of his Litecoin holdings is, to some extent, the first step towards decentralization. He stated, ""In the long term, this is the correct decision, but in the short term, it made the coin's price drop, making people feel that this is not a good decision. But I believe that after five years, this will be a good decision."" Looking back, when he sold Litecoin at its peak, he emphasized that he would still dedicate all his efforts to Litecoin. Once Litecoin succeeds, he will still generate profits through different means rather than directly owning Litecoin. |
