Since Facebook changed its name to Meta and entered the metaverse in 2021, it has gained widespread attention globally. Many companies have started to strategically position themselves in the metaverse, aiming to be the first to succeed. In the world of the metaverse, how can Apple be absent? Previously, it was mentioned that Apple would launch MR smart glasses as a tool to access the metaverse. Today, let's explore what other devices Apple has for entering the metaverse.

Tech giants have achieved significant success in the metaverse, intensifying competition in this field. Many companies are actively pursuing related businesses, hoping to seize opportunities in the metaverse. Apple's stock has risen nearly 20% in the past month, reaching a market value of $2.94 trillion. The surge is attributed to Wall Street's belief that iPhone sales are in high demand, and Apple's valuation model now includes rumors about Apple launching AR and VR devices for the metaverse in 2022.

Apple's efforts in AR/VR software can be considered the earliest, clearest, and largest in scale. As early as 2017, Apple released AR software development tools called ARKit at WWDC 2017, supporting engines like Unity and Unreal. At WWDC 2021, Apple had already updated this tool to ARKit 5. Additionally, Apple introduced new AR features such as AR Maps, Object Capture, and Reality Kit 2.

Apple aims to once again lead the VR/AR industry in the metaverse. AR/VR devices could be Apple's next big move. In a report, Ming-Chi Kuo pointed out three advantages of Apple's AR head-mounted display compared to competitors: Mac-level computing power, standalone operation without reliance on Mac or iPhone, and broad application support. The report also suggests that Apple may release AR/VR headphones by late 2022 or early 2023, with AR glasses possibly appearing by 2025. Apple's goal, as stated in the report, is to replace the iPhone with AR/VR devices within ten years. Currently, there are over one billion active iPhone users.

This indicates that Apple aims to sell at least one billion AR/VR devices within ten years. As for pricing, there is no conclusive information at the moment. However, some media outlets estimate the cost to be around $2000-3000 due to high-end technology involved. The device price is likely to be similar to high-end iPhones, around $1000. Apple has consistently released confident and mature products, so let's look forward to Apple's potentially awe-inspiring innovations as the world gradually undergoes transformation.

If I have the money, I'd also like to buy one of these things and give it a try.
