Players' outstanding performances on the court earn them contracts with their teams. Sometimes, when a player believes their performance deserves a higher salary, they may request a larger contract from the team. Of course, teams also have the option to trade or renew contracts.

Jason Kidd: 9-year $60 million contract
Kidd was the first pick in the 1994 NBA draft and won the Rookie of the Year award the following year. Few rookies displayed outstanding performances at the time, and due to the relatively lenient rules regarding NBA rookie contracts, players could negotiate agreements with their teams. Kidd, with his undeniable skills, demanded a lengthy 9-year contract from the team, threatening not to play if they didn't agree. In the end, the team valued Kidd's potential and agreed to a substantial 9-year, $60 million contract. However, by the late 1990s, league salaries began to skyrocket. As the premier point guard at the time, Kidd's salary was just a fraction of the skyrocketing costs. Additionally, he became a typical example of regretting signing a large contract.

Glenn Robinson: 10-year $68 million contract
Nicknamed ""Big Dog,"" Glenn Robinson was a rookie in the same year as Kidd, but he outperformed Kidd and was selected by the Milwaukee Bucks in the NBA draft. Robinson, extremely talented with comprehensive scoring skills, was a natural-born scoring machine. After being selected by the Bucks, Robinson, averaging 22+6+2 per game as a rookie with a shooting percentage of 45.1% and a three-point percentage of 32.1%, demanded a super top-salary contract extension worth hundreds of millions over 13 years from the Bucks. Considering Michael Jordan's three consecutive championships with a salary of only $4 million per year, you can imagine how crazy Robinson's request was! After several negotiations, Robinson and the Bucks finally settled on a 10-year, $68 million contract, an astronomical figure at the time.

Earvin ""Magic"" Johnson: 25-year $25 million contract
Magic Johnson was the first overall pick in the 1979 NBA draft and spent his entire career playing for the Los Angeles Lakers. In his rookie season, Magic helped the Lakers win the championship and was crowned the youngest NBA Finals MVP in history. As one of the most successful players in NBA history, Johnson received a historic 25-year, $25 million contract from the Lakers during his rookie period. It is almost unimaginable that a player's career could last 25 years, making this contract an extravagant gesture towards Magic Johnson. The Lakers even provided an incredible privilege: Magic Johnson could renegotiate his annual salary with the team at any time to avoid affecting his future income growth.

I believe that among active players, only LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Kawhi Leonard, and Kevin Durant have the chance to enjoy the treatment Magic Johnson received. Note that even these four stars only have a chance; others need not be mentioned."

In the past, it was common to have long-term employment, but now short-term work is becoming popular.

The longer the duration of the contract, the less likely the amount will see an increase.

The longer the contract, the more likely it is a sign of greater strength or ability.

As long as there is capability, the employer will definitely use contracts to retain people.

Considering the factor of inflation, the longer the term of a player's contract, the less their income is in real terms.
