This development will include a gaming space, a bingo hall, a sports bar, multiple offices, and 25 apartments. The project proposal comes from Altostratus Limited, a company headquartered in the Isle of Man, which has submitted plans to develop a new casino in the capital of a British Crown Dependency. The project envisions a new property at the Middlemarch site in Douglas.
Altostratus's project imagines transforming the location into a six-story casino building, featuring a gaming space, a bingo hall, a sports bar, and multiple offices. The company's project will also create 25 apartments, with the roof transformed into a garden for residents. The company has also planned multiple parking spaces around the building to accommodate casino patrons, commuters, and residents comfortably. For reference, the Middlemarch factory in Douglas is located between Fort Street, Lord Street, Walpole Avenue, and Victoria Street. The property is owned by the Isle of Man government and is currently used as a parking lot. If the project is approved, the Palace Hotel and Casino, currently located in Douglas Promenade, will be relocated to the new property.
The casino itself will be situated on the ground floor. In addition to this, Altostratus's project envisions a sports bar and a bingo hall, allowing the hotel to attract a diverse range of gamers. The upper floors will house multiple offices, enhancing the commercial value of the building. According to Altostratus's plan, the entrance to the casino and the planned office space will be on Victoria Street. As mentioned earlier, the building will also showcase 25 apartments on its top three floors. The entrance to the residential portion of the building will be on Lord Street. Supporters of the new property believe it could become a central hub for festivals, events, and holiday markets. Some even suggest the possibility of an ice rink outside the hotel during the winter holidays.
Overall, the project has the potential to enhance the appeal and sustainability of Douglas, creating opportunities for local businesses and fostering economic growth through its office spaces. Earlier this year, Altnera's establishment of a new office contributed to the company's growth, allowing it to attract new talent. A month ago, the key compliance also opened an office in the UK Crown Dependencies. |
