If we talk about the most disappointing and mocked player in the 2023 NBA season, Joel Embiid from the 76ers ranks second, and there's certainly no one daring to take the first place. As for why he's subject to so much mockery, it mainly stems from his rivalry with this season's FMVP, Nikola Jokic, and the fact that he ended up being proven wrong, leading to his current situation.

Let's first discuss the feud between Embiid and Jokic. It's well known that although Jokic won the championship this season, he faced controversies during the previous two seasons despite winning regular season MVPs. Embiid, on the other hand, ended Jokic's three-peat MVP run this season and crowned himself MVP. Initially, this might not have caused much of an issue, but Embiid couldn't hold back his words. When asked by reporters if he would feel pressure after winning the championship, Embiid made a snide remark about Jokic's two MVPs without any championships, saying, ""Someone won it twice and still accomplished nothing, why should I feel pressure?""

This comment mocked Jokic and ignited the anger of many. However, on the court, it's strength that truly speaks, especially since Embiid's playoff disappointments have become quite common. Now that Jokic has won both the championship and FMVP, Embiid is even more susceptible to being criticized. Winning the MVP implies strong individual skills, and it's perfectly reasonable to expect you to lead your team to advance, especially when you've had good teammates like Butler, Simmons, and Harden over the years. The excuse of ""teammates not giving enough support"" just doesn't hold up.

But in the end, Embiid managed to disappoint people. After the 76ers were eliminated, Embiid, as the team's primary star, immediately blamed his teammates in media interviews, saying that the team couldn't rely solely on him and Harden. As the leader, saying such things immediately makes it hard for other players to respect you. In the NBA, winning a championship requires not only strong performance from superstars but also contributions from role players. Blaming teammates like this won't earn you respect, especially considering that this ""leader"" often fails to perform in crucial matches, making it even more difficult for him to gain respect from others.

Even though I don't know much about the current NBA, I'm still deeply impressed by Joel Embiid, who was surprisingly brought to tears by Leonard.

Joel Embiid is probably the person in this world who least wants Nikola Jokic to win the NBA championship, right? Haha, he got blatantly proven wrong. Looking at Embiid, who appears tough and strong on the outside, he's actually a super big softie on the inside.

Embiid has been mocked as the most disappointing player of this NBA season, and he really brought it upon himself. Who asked him to have a sharp tongue? He said things like someone who won two MVPs achieved nothing, and in the end, he got proven wrong. It's safe to say he brought this upon himself.
