Winning the MVP implies strong individual skills, and it's perfectly reasonable to expect you to lead your team to advance, especially when you've had good teammates like Butler, Simmons, and Harden over the years. The excuse of ""teammates not giving enough support"" just doesn't hold up.

But in the end, Embiid managed to disappoint people. After the 76ers were eliminated, Embiid, as the team's primary star, immediately blamed his teammates in media interviews, saying that the team couldn't rely solely on him and Harden. As the leader, saying such things immediately makes it hard for other players to respect you. In the NBA, winning a championship requires not only strong performance from superstars but also contributions from role players. Blaming teammates like this won't earn you respect, especially considering that this ""leader"" often fails to perform in crucial matches, making it even more difficult for him to gain respect from others.
