Recently, Heineken entered the virtual world of Decentraland and released a virtual beer called Heineken Silver, the world's first virtual beer. However, Bram Westenbrink, the head of the company, finds it an ironic joke.
Heineken claims that the beer is made from binary raw code hops grown by NPC farmers. In this regard, Bram Westenbrink, the company's Global Brand Director, stated that while we know the metaverse is a place where people can easily experience things, it's not the best place to taste new beer. He said, "Our new virtual beer launch is an ironic joke. It's a self-aware idea that we, along with many other competing brands, are putting the most popular real-world products into the metaverse, but some things are still best suited for the real world."
Cheil Worldwide, a Samsung advertising agency, also recently announced its entry into the NFT business. Apart from issuing NFTs in the future, the company will establish an NFT trading marketplace. Cheil Worldwide, despite being an advertising agency, aims to expand the concept across various intellectual properties (IP) through collaborations with TV shows, entertainment programs, and games, leveraging its rich human resources and experience in operating online shopping platforms. They recognize that due to the diversification of marketing channels, such as the recent COVID-19 pandemic, virtual worlds, and live businesses, the importance of technology-based content has significantly increased.
In all honesty, nothing beats the taste of a real refreshing beer. Just looking at a beer you can't drink is like a tease! There's nothing that a bottle of beer can't solve, and if there is, have two! Cheers! |
