How to Read Baccarat Odds

In the game of baccarat, players can choose to bet between the Player  and the Banker . You can bet on the Player to win, the Banker to win, or a Tie. Regardless of whether you bet on the Banker or the Player, the payout odds for each wager are the same, but the payout odds for a Tie bet are typically between 7:1 and 9:1.

Baccarat Odds Table

In baccarat odds, the most crucial odds to understand are those for Tie bets. While the 8:1 odds may sound exciting, the actual odds for a Tie bet are much lower, and you also have to deal with a house edge of over 14%.

Since the Banker's hand is played after the Player's hand, the odds of the Banker winning are slightly higher than the Player winning. In other words, the Banker already knows how to play against the Player before deciding whether to draw a card. However, players who bet on the Banker have to pay a 5% commission to the casino, which can sometimes be higher than the odds themselves.

Here are the different bets and their corresponding odds:

- Banker wins: 1 to 0.95 with a 5% commission (Banker total points exceed Player).
- Player wins: 1 to 1 (Player total points exceed Banker).
- Tie: 1 to 8 (Player and Banker have the same total points).
- Banker Pair: 1 to 11 (First two Banker cards are a pair, e.g., Heart 8, Diamond 8).
- Player Pair: 1 to 11 (First two Player cards are a pair, e.g., Club K, Spade K).
- Big: 1 to 0.54 (Total number of cards for Player/Banker, including drawing, is 5 or 6).
- Small: 1 to 1.50 (Total number of cards for Player/Banker, excluding drawing, is 4).
- Banker Single: 1 to 0.94 (Total points of Banker's hand, including drawing, are odd).
- Banker Double: 1 to 0.94 (Total points of Banker's hand, including drawing, are even).
- Player Single: 1 to 0.96 (Total points of Player's hand, including drawing, are odd).
- Player Double: 1 to 0.90 (Total points of Player's hand, including drawing, are even).
- Banker Dragon Bonus: 1 to 30 (Difference between Banker and Player total points, maximum odds 1 to 30).
- Player Dragon Bonus: 1 to 30 (Difference between Banker and Player total points, maximum odds 1 to 30).

Analyzing Baccarat Betting Odds

Compared to the 1.24% odds of betting on the Player, betting on the Banker results in a house edge of 1.06%, even after factoring in the 5% commission. Therefore, players don't necessarily have to consistently bet on the Player and can try their luck with the Banker as well.

Many players keep track of the wins and losses of the Player and Banker in the casino-provided scorecards to predict trends. However, it's important to note that long-term odds don't significantly affect short-term results. Even if the Banker wins 10 to 20 consecutive hands, the Banker's chances of winning are still only slightly above 50%.
