Baccarat Squeezing Techniques and Tips
Baccarat is one of the most popular table games in the world, loved for its low house edge and the excitement of card squeezing. Mastering card squeezing isn't as difficult as it may seem, and here, we'll introduce some techniques to help beginners squeeze cards like professional players.
Squeezing cards is what makes Baccarat one of the most thrilling and enjoyable games. It's a significant reason for the rapid spread of Baccarat, not only in Macau but also as one of the favorite games among high-rollers worldwide.
Card squeezing doesn't change the cards or influence the outcome of the game. To inexperienced players, it may appear as if the card squeezer controls the game, but in reality, they are just revealing the cards that have already been placed for betting (either on the Banker or Player), with no control over the actual cards. The player with the highest bet has the privilege to squeeze the cards or designate someone else to do it. However, only one person can squeeze the cards for the Player and one for the Banker. Many things in the world, especially in the realm of gambling, are governed by customs and traditions. Having a good understanding of card squeezing techniques demonstrates your expertise in the game.
Squeezers usually carry the hopes of all the players at the table. Most of the time, players at the table will bet on the same side (either Banker or Player) as they come to a consensus regarding the cards' pattern in advance. However, there are exceptions, and players sometimes bet against each other to ""squeeze out"" the opposition.
Squeezing cards involves various techniques and methods, and each experienced player has their own style. Today, we will teach you some basic card squeezing techniques so you can practice and become a champion card squeezer.
**Purpose of Card Squeezing:**
When you squeeze cards, your goal is to slowly reveal the card's value. By gradually exposing a small portion of the card's face, you extend the excitement and tension of the game. Baccarat uses disposable cards, so you don't need to worry about damaging them. Of course, you can't intentionally rip the cards, but bending and folding are part of the game.
**Where to Start:**
There are many methods for card squeezing, but the following is the simplest and most effective way to learn the art of card squeezing. Cards are rectangular, and you should start with the shorter side facing you. Later on, you will squeeze the longer side, but begin with the shorter side (you'll find most players do this). Cards are symmetrical, at least when viewed from both ends and sides. It doesn't matter which end you start from.
When squeezing, keep the pace slow, not too slow to test everyone's patience, but not too fast to ruin the excitement. Place both thumbs separately on the two corners of the card to cover the numbers. You need to determine the card's value based on the suits (hearts, diamonds, clubs, and spades) on the card face.
**What to Look For:**
- If you see a black line or an image (commonly called a ""gong"") at the beginning of the card, the card is a J, Q, or K, meaning it has a value of zero. When a ""gong"" appears, there's no need to waste time on that card since the value is obvious. Some players will flip the card face up immediately, while others put it aside to begin squeezing the second card.
- When you've exposed a third of the card and haven't seen any suits, the card is an A with a value of 1. J, Q, K, or A are the easiest to squeeze because they quickly reveal their value. You'll find more enjoyment and challenge when squeezing other cards.
**Two Ends:**
Some players believe that the first card doesn't matter, and the second card determines the strength of the hand. Regardless of your first card, there's always a chance that your second card will turn your hand into an unbeatable 9-point hand.
These newly learned techniques can be practiced in several ways. Find an empty gambling table where you can do all the card squeezing with no one watching. This way, you can practice without any pressure. You can also purchase a few decks of cards to practice in the comfort of your home or hotel room. You'll find that these techniques are easy to learn.
Once you've mastered the basics, you can truly enjoy and understand the game, engage in discussions with other players at the table, gauge the quality of the cards being squeezed by others, and quickly assess the strength of your own hand. |
