Contrary to recent media reports, Galaxy Entertainment Group emphasizes that it has no intention of re-entering Boracay, Philippines, to develop a resort destination. The company highlights its focus on fully reopening the Macau market and expanding flagship projects at Galaxy Macau Resort, particularly emphasizing the continued development of Phase 3 and construction of Phase 4. This statement is in response to remarks made by businessman Albie Benitez, who raised the possibility of Galaxy Entertainment Group taking on the $5 billion Boracay project again.
In 2017, Albie Benitez, who founded Leisure and Resorts World Corporation (now DigiPlus Interactive Corp), first proposed the concept of building a casino resort on Boracay, and Galaxy Entertainment had expressed interest at that time. However, by the end of 2019, Leisure and Resorts World Corporation stated that they were no longer working with Galaxy Entertainment on the Boracay project. According to Galaxy Entertainment's latest statement, they are not currently pursuing this possibility, given the situation in Macau. |
