On October 8, the new NBA preseason is in full swing, with the regular season officially kicking off in 17 days. However, despite the season's just begun, several teams have already begun to face injury setbacks, including key players like Marcus Smart, Jarrett Allen, and Bojan Bogdanovic.

According to Grizzlies reporter Damichael Cole, Marcus Smart, a prominent acquisition for the team this summer, is dealing with mild abdominal soreness and will not participate in preseason public training. Fortunately, Damichael Cole pointed out that Smart is not expected to miss the season opener or any regular-season time; his absence from training is a precautionary measure.

The Cavaliers announced today that their center, Jarrett Allen, suffered a left ankle bone contusion during practice. It was reported that Allen got injured during practice and will undergo a reevaluation two weeks from now, likely causing him to miss the early games of the regular season. Notably, Keith Smith, a well-known reporter, commented, "It is presumed that Allen's injury won't make him miss too many regular-season games. If it happens, it would be a situation nobody wants to see, especially for the Cavaliers, who brought in many new players this summer." In the previous season, Allen averaged 14.3 points, 9.8 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 0.8 steals, and 1.2 blocks per game, making him a key player on both ends of the floor for the Cavaliers.

The Pistons also officially announced today that Bojan Bogdanovic is dealing with a mild calf strain, causing him to miss the first preseason game. A detailed evaluation of his injury will take place next week. According to the schedule, the Pistons will play their first preseason game tomorrow, facing off against the Suns.

On the Pacers' side, according to Pacers beat reporter Scott Agness, guard Hamadou Diallo is dealing with kidney stones and will be absent for the upcoming two preseason games on the road. Per the schedule, the Pacers will play the Grizzlies on October 9 and the Rockets on October 11 during their away trip, until they return for a home game against the Hawks on October 17.

In addition, in the October 8 match between the Dallas Mavericks and the Minnesota Timberwolves, Mavericks' star Kyrie Irving (left groin soreness), Seth Curry (illness), and Dorian Finney-Smith (left ankle soreness) had to sit out the game, resulting in another loss for the Mavericks against the Timberwolves, marking their second consecutive defeat.
