On October 3rd, SlowMist founder Yu Xian posted on social media stating that in recent days, there have been continuous reports of users having their friend.tech accounts hacked and their assets stolen. Friend.tech is a centralized platform, and it carries the risk of information leakage (this risk has always existed). User friend.tech accounts are registered either with a phone number, Gmail email, or Apple account, and there is no two-factor authentication (2FA), making these methods a prime target for malicious actors.
