"Macau welcomed over 150,000 tourists for the second consecutive day, starting the Golden Week holiday optimistically. According to the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), on Sunday, 150,039 people arrived, slightly lower than the 158,726 on Saturday. Combined with the 88,089 tourists on Friday, the total number of arrivals for the first three days of the Golden Week holiday reached 396,854 people. The daily average arrival rate is 132,284, marking a 429% increase compared to the same period last year.
Out of the 150,039 tourists who arrived on Sunday, 110,705 were from Mainland China, representing a 393% year-on-year increase, while the number of tourists from Hong Kong increased by 1,568%. This indicates a higher proportion of Mainland Chinese tourists on Sunday compared to the first two days of the Golden Week.
As the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) announced its monthly total gaming revenue data for September on Sunday, showing a month-on-month decline in revenue but an increase in tourist numbers, analysts predict that October will be the best-performing month of the year, partly due to the Golden Week holiday." |
