"Before the U.S. House Financial Services Committee hearing on September 27, 2023, it appears that Gary Gensler, the Chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), might reiterate his previous stance, which he took during the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee hearing. He also issued a prior notice of maintaining silence on ongoing lawsuits, such as the XRP and Grayscale spot ETF conversion rulings. Gensler mentioned that while he is happy to discuss the SEC's work, he cannot comment on any ongoing litigation.
When asked about the SEC's actions so far regarding the approval of spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs), Gensler stated that the work is ongoing in collaboration with officials from the agency. Another spot ETF has been delayed today, and the probability of approval this year is nearly zero. Spot ETFs are expected to be a significant development, so there is no need to rush; good things are worth waiting for." |
