The president of the Macau Hotel and Innkeepers Association, Lu Zhiliang, mentioned that September is typically the off-season for tourism. However, in the past week alone, over 100,000 tourists arrived in Macau, indicating that this year seems different from the past.
The positive trend in the Macau hotel industry supports this optimistic outlook. According to data compiled by the Macau Hotel Association, in July 2023, the average daily room rate in Macau hotels was MOP 1425 (USD 177), which is 5.14% higher than the average daily rate during the same period in 2019. Additionally, according to data from the Macau Hotel Association, the average occupancy rate for Macau hotels in July was 93%. Furthermore, the average occupancy rates for five-star, four-star, and three-star hotels were 92.9%, 89.1%, and 97.2%, respectively.
Compared to July 2019, hotel occupancy rates have remained at 93.5%, with average occupancy rates for five-star, four-star, and three-star hotels at 94.4%, 88.1%, and 96.1%, respectively. This trend demonstrates the resilience and attractiveness of Macau's tourism industry.
