Baccarat (Italian: baccarà or baccarat) is a card game and one of the common DB (Dragon & Tiger) games in casinos. Baccarat originated in Italy, was introduced to France in the fifteenth century, and became popular in England and France in the nineteenth century. Today, baccarat is one of the popular gambling games in casinos around the world. In Southeast Asian casinos, there are the most baccarat tables among all the casinos globally.

Now, let's take a look at how to play the game of baccarat.

**Gameplay and Betting:**
There is no strict limit to the number of players in baccarat. Besides the 9-player (small table) or 14-player (big table, 7 players on each side) seating provided by the casino, standing players can also participate freely in betting. However, when the total bets of both the banker and the player exceed the table's limit, the dealer will count the bets in the banker, player, and tie betting areas (commonly referred to as "counting red") before dealing the cards. This indicates that the bets exceed the table's limit (the limit is indicated on each table), and the players are asked to reduce their bets to the designated limit before starting. In addition to setting the maximum limit, each table also has a minimum bet amount.

If a player believes that the banker and player will have the same point total, resulting in a tie, they can bet on a tie. If a player believes that either the banker or the player (or both simultaneously) will receive a pair of cards, such as two 3s or two Queens, they can bet on a pair (pair bets have no restrictions, although pairs formed by any two cards, such as 10 and J, Q, or K, are both worth 0 points, they are not considered pairs).

Moreover, the player with the highest bet amount on the banker or player has the right to reveal the hole card themselves, designate any seated position with a bet, or have the dealer reveal the hole card (standing players cannot reveal the hole card). Some casinos require the dealer to reveal the hole card at certain tables (this is indicated on each table).

**Dealing and Drawing Cards:**
In baccarat, typically 8 decks of cards are used, and after shuffling, they are placed in a shoe. Both the banker and the player will receive at least two cards each per round, but no more than three. The first and third cards are dealt to the "player," and the second and fourth cards are dealt to the "banker." Whether or not to draw a third card is determined by the drawing rules. Unlike blackjack, players can bet on either the banker or the player without restrictions.

**Scoring:**
In baccarat, an Ace is counted as 1 point. Cards from 2 to 9 are counted according to their face value. 10, J, Q, and K are counted as zero points (although some casinos count them as 10 points). When the total point value of all cards exceeds 9, only the unit digit is counted. Therefore, the maximum point value possible is 9 (for example, 8 + 9 = 17 is counted as 7 points), and the minimum is 0 points, also known as "baccarat" (for example, 10 + 10 = 20 is counted as 0 points).

**Payouts:**
- Betting on the banker and winning pays 1:1, minus a 5% commission to the banker.
- Betting on the player and winning pays 1:1.
- Betting on a tie (when the final point total is the same) pays 1:8.
- Betting on a pair (when the first two cards of either the banker or the player have the same number or face value) pays 1:11.

**Winning Probability:**
Assuming 8 decks are used, the probabilities of various outcomes are as follows:

- Banker wins: 45.86%
- Player wins: 44.62%
- Tie: 9.52%

Betting on the banker is the best option as it has the lowest house edge of about 1%.

The answer to how to play is to follow the rules; the real focus should be on how to win money.

Playing is still very simple, and the rules are explained clearly as well.
