"After Manchester United's back-to-back defeats, if we were to point out a player who has faced intense public criticism, it would undoubtedly be David De Gea. As the longest-serving player at Manchester United, De Gea is currently in a renewal phase. He has made numerous crucial saves for the club in the past, earning the affectionate nickname ""Dave Saves"" from fans. However, it is an undeniable fact that his form has declined.

De Gea has been with Manchester United for a long time, and if you search for videos related to him online, you can find numerous instances where he made incredible saves to keep Manchester United's goal intact. However, even the most exceptional goalkeepers cannot escape the toll that time takes on their abilities. De Gea's declining form is apparent, and he is one of the highest earners at the club, with a weekly wage of €375,000. Consequently, there have been calls for De Gea to be replaced.

Moreover, modern football has evolved in terms of goalkeeper requirements. Many top teams no longer prioritize goalkeepers solely for their shot-stopping abilities. Instead, they seek goalkeepers with better distribution skills. Whether it's Arsenal's Ramsdale or Manchester City's Ederson, their shot-stopping abilities might not be on par with De Gea's, but their distribution skills are exceptionally strong. In these recent matches, De Gea may have realized the need to improve his distribution skills, but the results have been far from ideal. He has made several poor distribution choices that either almost resulted in goals for the opposition or directly led to goals. It is quite challenging for a 32-year-old goalkeeper to make such changes.

I'm a fan of De Gea as well, particularly for his exceptional shot-stopping ability. I have seen him make incredible saves for Manchester United on multiple occasions, and this season, he has kept 15 clean sheets, the most in the Premier League. De Gea undeniably possesses the talent, but like any other player, age gradually erodes his form, and it's something that others can only view with a sense of helplessness."

As he has gotten older, his skills are not as sharp as they used to be. It's a natural progression.

Back in the day, Real Madrid attempted to acquire De Gea, but the deal famously fell through due to a fax machine issue. That era marked the peak of De Gea's career.

It's possible that age has played a role in the changes in De Gea's performance since then.
