Arsenal's performance in April, with 3 draws and 1 win, took me quite some time to accept the fact that Arsenal once again fell short this season. However, when I look up, Manchester City has been incredibly strong this season. The match between Arsenal and Manchester City completely impressed me; Arsenal clearly isn't at the level of the top teams. Moreover, within this top-tier team, there is much debate about selecting the best player, demonstrating the abundance of exceptional players they have, which is truly admirable.
After Manchester City's victory over Fulham, an interesting scene unfolded. The Premier League's official Best Player award was given to Erling Haaland, citing his 34 goals, which equaled the Premier League's single-season record held by Alan Shearer and Andy Cole. Considering that Haaland has scored 50 goals across all competitions this season, the last time such a record was achieved was during Churchill's era. Therefore, it made sense to award Haaland in such a commemorative match.
However, within Manchester City, there are also other outstanding players. The Best Player award from Manchester City's official channels went to Alvarez, which was also well-deserved. In fact, this isn't the first time such a situation has arisen for Manchester City this season. In the previous match against Arsenal, Haaland, De Bruyne, and Stones all had valid claims for the Best Player award. This illustrates that Manchester City's strength isn't confined to one individual; it's a comprehensive and all-encompassing strength, to the extent that both the Premier League and Manchester City's official channels had to recognize different players with Best Player awards alternately. |
