According to insider sources, the Saudi sovereign wealth fund (PIF) is considering incorporating F1 into its sports portfolio.
However, Saudi Arabia, which is currently interested in acquiring F1, faces challenges as the current owner, Liberty Media, is not inclined towards a sale. In 2017, F1 was acquired by billionaire John Malone's Liberty Media for a transaction price of $4.4 billion.
It's worth noting that PIF remains interested in this asset and is awaiting any change of heart from Liberty Media.
Currently, both PIF and Liberty Media representatives have not responded to requests for comments.
The 2023 season will witness four races in the Middle East, with the first two races having taken place in March in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. |
