Should Shreyash Iyer be a part of the playing 11 in the World Cup 2023?

Shreyash Iyer got back spasms before playing Pakistan in the Asia Cup. Keeping this in mind, should he play in the top 11 in the World Cup?

Yes, definitely. He was the highest run scorer for India in 2022 combining all three formats and individually in the ODI format as well. He has a better average than Surya and KL at no.4 and can play spin in the middle overs very well.

I think I should not miss the World Cup this time, otherwise, the middle overs may collapse.

I think playing Shreysh Iyer might be a gamble. He is continuously getting injured for the past year. If he again gets injured in the World Cup, we will have to replace him with someone else in the middle of the World Cup which will be harmful to the stability of the playing 11. He should be on the bench as an extra player.

KL Rahul scoring runs and saving the middle overs from a collapse has put Iyer’s place in the playing 11 in danger. His place will be determined on the basis of how he plays in the next three ODIs against Australia that India is playing before the World Cup.

In my opinion, the BCCI should avoid playing him in the playing 11 as he is continuously getting injured and we don’t want a player to get injured in the middle of the World Cup.
