Ashwin has been added to the three ODIs that the Indian team is playing against Australia before the World Cup. Is this a sign that he can be added to the World Cup squad as well?

No. The team already has enough spinners like Kuldeep, Axar, and Jadeja and no one replaceable. Ashwin has not played ODIs for many years… so adding him to the World Cup squad will be a gamble and nothing else.

No doubt Ashwin is a talented spinner and a good batsman too. But in the announced squad… There seems no place for Ashwin to fit in. He can only replace Jadeja and Axar, and both of these have shown good form in the recent past. There is almost no reason why Ashwin would be added to the squad.

This can be an excellent move keeping in mind that we are playing three games in spinner-friendly pitches like Lucknow, Chennai and Delhi. He can be our trump card in taking wickets in the middle over and also bat down the order. Adding Ashwin can be a wise move and I vouch for it.
