NBA has entered the offseason. According to previous reports, Tristan Thompson, who helped the Cavaliers win the championship in 2016, will return to the Cavaliers on a one-year contract.

On the morning of September 13th, the Cavaliers officially announced the news, writing on their official Twitter account: "Tristan Thompson is back in Cleveland. Welcome back, Tristan!"

Thompson entered the NBA in 2011, and he played for the Cavaliers for nine seasons. Starting from the 2014-15 season, he helped the Cavaliers reach the NBA Finals for four consecutive seasons and in the 2015-16 season, he played a crucial role in the Cavaliers' victory over the 73-win Golden State Warriors, winning the team's first-ever NBA championship. In the summer of 2020, Thompson left the Cavaliers to join the Boston Celtics, beginning his journey as a journeyman.

In the 2021-22 season, Thompson played for the Chicago Bulls, Indiana Pacers, and Sacramento Kings at different times. He appeared in 57 regular-season games, averaging 6 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 0.4 blocks per game, with a shooting percentage of 52.8%. In the previous season, Thompson only played for the Los Angeles Lakers during the playoffs, where he appeared in a total of 6 games, averaging 5.3 minutes per game, and contributed 1.8 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 0.3 assists per game, with a shooting percentage of 45.5%. It's worth mentioning that during the periods when he wasn't playing last season, Thompson even worked as a commentator.

Reportedly, Thompson's contract for the new season is partially guaranteed. After signing Thompson, the Cavaliers still intend to retain one roster spot, hoping to maintain flexibility and maneuverability in their roster during training camp and the early part of the new season.
