I previously shared that Maguire was stripped of the captain's armband due to a decline in his form, but his misery seems far from over. In a recent preseason match against Borussia Dortmund, Maguire not only faced a chorus of boos from the fans as soon as he stepped onto the field but was also visibly berated by a new teammate who has been with the team for less than two weeks. It appears that Maguire's days at Manchester United are gradually dwindling.
However, despite being stripped of the captaincy, Maguire continues to train diligently. He posts videos of his training sessions every day, at least three times a day, showing a strong willingness to regain his place through hard work. But during the player introduction segment before the match against Dortmund, the crowd expressed their discontent with Maguire with a barrage of boos. The fans were clearly not pleased with his recent performances.
This dissatisfaction from the fans continued during the match. Whenever Maguire received the ball, the stadium was filled with jeers from the supporters, making it an uncomfortable atmosphere for him. And the final straw came from his own teammates. Manchester United's new goalkeeper, Onana, who had just substituted into the game, expressed his dissatisfaction with Maguire's actions on the field, shouting at him in clear frustration. At that moment, Maguire did not respond, possibly indicating his growing disillusionment.
If there were fan dissatisfaction but still support from his teammates, Maguire might have been able to persevere in his bid to reclaim his position within the team. However, the fact that a goalkeeper who has been with the team for less than two weeks could openly show his frustration towards a veteran on the field suggests that Maguire might be on the verge of leaving Manchester United. Currently, there are a few teams interested in Maguire, but he has reportedly turned down offers from certain clubs. Therefore, it remains uncertain whether Maguire will indeed leave, and his future at this point is unclear.
Personally, I have a fondness for Maguire, and I'm also perplexed by his poor performances at Manchester United. However, when he plays for the national team, it's like he transforms into a different player, performing like a warrior. For my part, I hope Maguire can find the confidence he needs by leaving Manchester United and starting fresh elsewhere. |
