After leaving Paris, the Argentine superstar Lionel Messi rejected the option to return to his former club Barcelona and also turned down an enticing salary offer from a Saudi club. Instead, he chose to join Inter Miami CF, making him the likely first choice on their matchday roster. Many fans of foreign professional soccer leagues are eager to see Messi play; however, there's a catch – he may not play on the fields of several foreign professional soccer league teams.

The reason behind this is Messi's preference not to play on artificial turf. Surprisingly, as of now, six teams in foreign professional soccer leagues use artificial turf on their home fields. These teams include the New England Revolution, Portland Timbers, Seattle Sounders, Charlotte FC, Atlanta United, and the Vancouver Whitecaps. It's not just about Messi being a high-profile player; it's about the potential adverse effects of artificial turf on a player's health.

However, Inter Miami CF still has away matches against Charlotte FC and Atlanta United this season, both of which have artificial turf fields but are played in large stadiums. If Messi were to miss these matches, it could result in significant commercial losses.

Looking back at Messi's club career, he played almost every match on natural grass because La Liga and Ligue 1 do not permit the use of artificial turf. While the UEFA Champions League allows artificial turf, UEFA does not permit its use in the final matches.

Artificial turf is known to pose a higher risk of injury as it tends to be firmer, which can have a significant impact on athletes' ankles and knee joints. In the United States, artificial turf is relatively common, especially in areas with limited access to natural grass fields. Fortunately, Messi's team in Miami plays their home matches on natural grass, which means that Messi can participate in all their home games without any concerns about artificial turf.

I believe that various teams will work to change this situation because, after all, there are too many disadvantages associated with artificial turf.
